Ismael Ruiz Hernández, commonly known as Maelo Ruiz, started his professional career as lead singer of Pedro Conga and his International Orchestra. In the seven years he was under Ruiz's direction, he recorded four albums, including the hit "No te quites la ropa", which sold over 50,000 units.
