Ismael Ruiz Hernandez, commonly known as Maelo Ruiz, began his professional career as the lead singer of Pedro Conga and his International Orchestra. During the seven years that he was under Ruiz's direction, he recorded four albums, including the hit "Don't take off your clothes", which sold more than 50,000 units. Salsa hits like "I Want To Return", "If You Knew" and "You Deny Me So Much Love" awarded Ruiz gold records in Colombia and Puerto Rico, but most importantly, worldwide recognition from salsa lovers.
