About JOHN COLTRANE:An American jazz saxophonist, bandleader, and composer. He is among the most influential and acclaimed figures in the history of jazz and 20th-century music. Born and raised in North Carolina, after graduating from high school, Coltrane moved to Philadelphia, where he studied music. He worked in the bebop and hard bop idioms early in his career. Coltrane helped pioneer the use of modes and was one of the musicians at the forefront of free jazz. He led at least fifty recording sessions and appeared on many albums by other musicians, including trumpeter Miles Davis and pianist Thelonious Monk.

About SALSA MEETS JAZZ BAND:A unique band from Los Angeles, created for the enjoyment of fans of jazz, Latin jazz, and salsa music. Salsa Meets Jazz was a now-legendary music series that took place at the Village Gate in New York during the 1980s. Now, Los Angeles not only has its own version of the Salsa Meets Jazz series, but also an orchestra created to evoke and preserve one of the greatest moments in Jazz, Latin Jazz, and Salsa with both classic and original songs.
