Ismael Ruiz Hernández, commonly known as Maelo Ruiz, began his professional career as the lead singer of Pedro Conga and his International Orchestra. In the seven years that he was under Ruiz's direction, he recorded four albums, including the hit "No te quites la ropa", which sold more than 50,000 units.
