Gerardo Coronel, corridos songwriter and exponent of the alternate movement, made his debut at 14 years old with the song "El Guerrero". He is recognized for composing the successful corrido "La Tacoma", performed by artists such as Alfredo "El Komander" Ríos, Julián Mercado and El Bebeto. After the creation of "El Guerrero", he joined a local band in Sinaloa, but chose to go solo after two years.
