La Sonora Santanera

With over six decades of history, La Sonora Santanera has established itself as one of the most influential groups in tropical music in Mexico. Originally founded by the late Carlos Colorado in the city of Tabasco, the band reinvented itself after moving to Mexico City, where it became Tropical Santanera. After attracting the attention of promoter Jesús 'Palillo' Martínez, they debuted at the Teatro Follies Bergere before adopting their current name, La Sonora Santanera.

La Sonora Santanera is widely recognized for its diversity of dance styles, and signed its first record contract with CBS Mexico in 1960. Their first hits include 'La Boa' and 'Los aretes de la Luna', which have maintained their popularity over the years.
